St. Katharine’s runs its own education programme consisting of:
- Short courses are based either at St Katharine’s or in local churches. There are details below how we can help your church.
- Seminar Suppers are held three times a year, where speakers are invited to share their 2020 vision on issues which are of contemporary significance. Former speakers have included Ken Leech, speaking on multiculturalism, Garth Hewitt on Middle East relations and William Noblett on the prison service.
- Retreats and Quiet Days are a recent development. Father Dermot Tredget, a Benedictine Monk, recently led a day looking at Benedictine Spirituality and how this can help people maintain a right work/life balance.
- Occasional concerts and plays.
We also hope in the future to offer educational opportunities for students at school and university, as well as those in theological training. Having close contacts with local churches and settlements, we are in a good position to arrange placements and provide mentoring.
Our Education Tutor is David Driscoll and he works for Mission in London’s Economy (MiLE), which has its office at St. Katharine’s. MiLE is an ecumenical organisation founded in 2005 to help Christians and churches make links between faith and the workplace. It is likely, therefore, that St. Katharine’s will provide a base for MiLE to run its own lay and ministerial training. Go to www.mile.org.uk for more information.
